About the role
The Salvation Army’s Waltham Corps. is hiring a Hope Kitchen Coordinator & Cook. This position offers a generous paid time off package, an employer-funded pension plan, and eligibility for supplemental insurance plans.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for programs
- Clean and maintain Hope Kitchen facilities
- Keep Sign-in book for meals served current
- Keep a record / sign-up of all baked good given to Food Pantry clients
- Develop and implement a Monthly Menu
- Keep ongoing list of needed items for the food program
- Purchase items from the Office Manager
- Train, instruct, and maintain volunteers that serve at the Hope Kitchen
- Keep up to date record of volunteer sign-in sheet and hours volunteered
- Ensure garbage receptacles are empty and clean at the end of the day
- Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in the community
- Engage in Christian spiritual conversation with members of the public
- Pray with individuals when the opportunity or need arises
- Recognize spiritual need of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalence
- Some practical training in social work area preferable
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with a similar program
- Certification for Food Produce Safety
- Certification in Safe Serve approved by Department of Health
- Training in maintenance of environment for good preparation
