About the role

The Hood Technician position at Summit Fire & Security is responsible for assisting in the cleaning of cooking exhaust systems in commercial kitchens. This role involves working after hours, often alone, interacting with restaurant management and staff, and performing inspections, cleanups, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside the building
  • Interact professionally with restaurant management and staff
  • Take photos of work performed
  • Filling out paperwork related to job duties
  • Keeping the truck and machines in working condition
  • Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans, roof, filters
  • Driving to and from job sites and shops
  • Performing maintenance tasks as needed
  • Getting to scheduled appointments on time
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction
  • Light mechanical ability
  • Critical/safety forward thinking skills
  • Collaboration and ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Strong diligence and accuracy in communication
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs
  • Kneel, lift up to 60 lbs
  • Reach above and below shoulders
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • See in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus
  • Balance, crouch, drive, lift over 60 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
  • Work outside in various weather conditions
  • Work alone and with others
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
