About the role
The Hood Technician position at Summit Fire & Security is responsible for assisting with and supervising the cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems. This role involves working after hours, interacting with restaurant management and staff, and taking photos of work performed.
Responsibilities
- Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside
- Work alone with a helper and must be able to interact professionally with restaurant management and staff and be honest and trustworthy
- Inspect, clean up, and some maintenance
- Drive to and from job site to shop
- Filling out paperwork
- Keeping truck and machine in working condition
- Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans, roof, filters
- Working safely with ladders and chemicals
- Getting to per-scheduled appointments on time
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent, required
- Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required
- Light mechanical ability, preferred
- Work with hand/power tools
- Demonstrate critical/safety forward thinking skills
- Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees
- Strong diligence and accuracy
- Communication Skills - Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers

- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift 60lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
- Work Environment: Employees will regularly be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise. Employee will occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others.
- Physical Requirements: Employees must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
