A Day in the Life as a Home Visitor
- Provides weekly home visits for home-based families
- Plans developmentally appropriate curriculum in collaboration with parent during weekly home visits for parent to engage child in activities designed to enhance the parent/child relationship and promote the child’s growth and development.
- Provides support to families through sharing information about appropriate resources and supporting families through the referral process
Qualifications to Be a Home Visitor
- Education: Home Visitor CDA; or Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Services or related field
- Experience: Previous Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred; previous home visiting experience preferred
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate and relate comfortably to young children and families. Basic computer literacy skills.
- Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood experience.
- Technical: Successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification.
