About the Role
The Home Training PD Registered Nurse evaluates and trains the dialysis facility’s home peritoneal dialysis patients, care partners, and families for the home dialysis program. This position ensures an atmosphere that respects patient rights, privacy, dignity, and well-being in a safe, secure environment. The role requires familiarity with peritoneal dialysis equipment, procedures, and the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to care for dialysis patients.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and train home peritoneal dialysis patients, care partners, and families.
- Maintain knowledge of peritoneal dialysis equipment and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with patient rights, privacy, and safety standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Twelve (12) months of nursing experience.
- Meets all applicable state/licensing requirements.
- Three (3) months of experience in peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis unless waived by state regulations.
- Documented training and experience in peritoneal dialysis and/or home hemodialysis, including maintenance of the dialysis access.
- Basic training certificates if less than one (1) year of experience in the modality.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current CPR certification.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory and teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
