About the role

The Home Therapy RN I Trainee will start to learn how to serve as a coordinator of patient care and collaborate with other care providers and health team members to provide required care. The RN 1 Trainee will learn to act as a patient teacher and advocate, assisting the patient in seeking information, ensuring the patient has the opportunity for informed consent for treatment decisions, and promoting the maximum level of patient-desired independence.

The RN will learn about professional role development activities including continuing education, quality assessment and improvement, and the review and clinical application of research findings. The RN will also learn to develop ethically sound practice and confront ethical challenges by seeking guidance from the preceptor/mentor.

The RN will perform home visits to determine that the home environment is suitable for patient dialyzing at home and whether or not the home will be a safe and appropriate setting in compliance with CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to coordinate patient care and collaborate with other care providers and health team members.
  • Act as a patient teacher and advocate, assisting the patient in seeking information and ensuring informed consent for treatment decisions.

  • Develop ethically sound practice and confront ethical challenges by seeking guidance from the preceptor/mentor.
  • Perform home visits to assess the suitability of the home environment for patient dialyzing and ensure compliance with CMS regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 0-12 months of clinical nursing experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent.
  • Current, active, unencumbered state RN licensure.
  • Credential in Healthcare Provider certification (CPR).

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated competency in basic computer skills and navigation through various Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel, and Outlook programs.
  • Valid state driver's license and reliable transportation for home visits.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of CMS regulations and home healthcare standards.
