About the role
Lux Infusion is seeking a Part-Time Per Diem Infusion Nurse to provide home-based infusion care. This role involves inserting, monitoring, and removing IVs, administering medications, and managing patient care coordination.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate nursing visits according to prescriptions and protocols
- Ensure scheduled visits are confirmed with both the patient and the nursing agency/RN
- Follow up on and enter Therapy Admin reports, emailing to relevant team members
- Review and document nursing notes for accuracy and completeness
- Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding treatment issues and needs
- Coordinate patient visits and calls at the patient's home
- Prepare clinical records and care plans for each visit
- Insert intravenous cannulas, administer prescribed solutions, and monitor infusion sites
- Teach patients and caregivers about proper IV or PICC line care and communication
- Work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities
- Communicate with answering services as necessary
- Perform related duties as requested
- Participate in quality assurance activities and audits
Qualifications
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
- IV certification and experience in central line care and management
- Current state RN license in the designated location
- Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience
- Valid state driver’s license
- CPR certification
- Experience in home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC, or hospital discharge planning
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel to see patients in homes and other health care facilities
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the nursing process and ability to apply it to schedule nursing visits
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and under high levels of stress
- Medical-surgical experience or knowledge in phlebotomy and venous access
- Ability to teach patients and caregivers about proper IV or PICC line care and communication
Physical Demands
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may be required to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
