Responsibilities
- Work with patients in their homes to assess their current functional abilities and needs.
- Develop a proper treatment plan and interventions that align with the patient’s needs.
- Assist patients in increasing their independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Work with patients to strategize ways to complete everyday activities more easily.
- Help patients develop better hand-eye coordination.
- Aid patients in managing and staving off emotional and mental health issues, such as dementia and depression.
- Provide instruction and assistance to the caregivers or family members in carrying out specific therapy interventions.
- Educate patients and their families on how to manage the patients’ conditions or disabilities.
- Regularly document patient progress in patient records to monitor improvement.
- Comply with the regulatory and compliance requirements of all state and federal agencies.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
- Active Occupational Therapy licensure in the state of practice.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients in a familiar home environment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to make frequent home visits.
