PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

• Affords assessments, interpretations, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients with appropriate skill levels based on their age and diagnosis.
• Contributes to the development and efficient operation of program disciplines.
• Communicates information in compliance with agency policies and discipline-specific guidelines.
• Enhances program effectiveness.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Education: Graduated from an accredited university with an Occupational Therapy program.
• Licensure / Certifications: Licensure in the state where services are provided (NC/SC), CPR certification, and AOTA certification.
• Experience: Preference given to one year of relevant experience.
• Essential Technical / Motor Skills: Knowledge of home health and occupational therapy procedures, ability to manipulate patient care equipment, including modalities and assistive devices; ability to transfer and guard patients; ability to apply manual therapy techniques.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact professionally and positively with the public, colleagues, patients, families, and physicians.
• Essential Physical Requirements: Significant locomotion, frequent lifting of items weighing more than 50 lbs and transferring patients weighing more than 100 lbs; repeated reaching in front of the body, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling; occasional reaching overhead, stair climbing, sitting, and fine motor manipulation.
• Essential Mental Abilities: Application of rehabilitation clinical principles, use of professional reasoning to develop appropriate treatment programs; prioritization of duties, learning new skills and techniques in patient care; use of computer technology and supportive services.
• Essential Sensory Requirements: Clear vision and communication abilities to perform basic clinical techniques.
• Exposure to Hazards: Noise, congestion, communicable diseases, exposure to bloodborne pathogens, patient assault, and injuries from improper body mechanics, uncooperative patients, families, and community hazards.
• Hours of Work: 40-hour workweeks, variable Monday through Friday, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Population Served: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics.
• Requirements: Valid North Carolina Driver’s license and operational vehicle.
