Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists and other Assistants to provide therapy and support for our patients by following established plans of care, assisting with adaptive devices, and maintaining therapy spaces and equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong time management skills, excellent customer service skills, and knowledge of occupational therapy guidelines and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Provides high quality care and meets the needs of the patient and family by implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the occupational therapist supervisor.
• Assists pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADLs, and social/emotional development to improve their level of independence through skilled interventions.
• Participates in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills for carrying over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
• Ensures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Documents patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
• Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

• Current state licensing for occupational therapy assistance required.
• Previous experience working in an occupational therapy setting desired.
• CPR License.
• Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• The ability to make decisions in a high-stress environment.
