Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists and other Assistants to provide therapy and support for our patients by following established plans of care, assisting with adaptive devices, and maintaining therapy spaces and equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong time management skills, excellent customer service skills, and knowledge of occupational therapy guidelines and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality care and meets the needs of patients and families by implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the occupational therapist supervisor.
• Assists pediatric and young adult patients in physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADLs, and social/emotional development to improve their level of independence through skilled interventions.
• Participates in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
• Ensures continuation of therapeutic plans post-discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Documents patient care services and care coordination in an electronic medical record system.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• Current state licensing for occupational therapy assistance.
• Previous experience in an occupational therapy setting (desired).
• CPR certification.
• Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to make decisions in high-stress environments.
