About the role
The NHC Home Laurens is seeking a Home Health Aide to provide personal care services to patients in their homes under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Renders personal care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Performs tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, skin care, hair care, and dressing assistance.
- Assists with elimination needs, including using bedside commodes, bedpans, and helping with transfers and ambulation.
- Carries out routine care of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Performs reinforcement of dressings in Florida-specific cases.
- Administers prescribed medications safely and effectively, following instructions from appropriate professionals.
- Supports patients with prescribed exercises, providing supervision as necessary.
- Maintains a hygienic environment by preparing meals, feeding patients, cleaning utensils, and performing light cleaning tasks.
- Launder bed linens and clothing when required.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in ongoing patient care coordination.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Qualifications
- Active South Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with home health aide training hours.
- Completion of the ninth grade in school.
- Successful completion of a training program consisting of at least 75 total hours, including 16 hours of classroom instruction and 16 hours of supervised practical training.
- Successful completion of the HomeCare Aide Competency Evaluation before performing patient care independently.
