Home Health Aide - HHA
Visiting Angels' office in Lufkin provides caregivers for the Deep East Texas area including Livingston, Lufkin, Moscow, Corrigan, Diboll, Groveton, Woodville, and many others. About the role
A Home Health Aide (HHA) with Visiting Angels Lufkin supports seniors with a wide range of responsibilities, from light housekeeping and meal preparation to one-on-one mobility assistance and transportation. This role is an opportunity to do real good for families in Lufkin and the surrounding area while also growing personally through advanced training in areas like dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Help clients take prescribed medication
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (transferring assistance using Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, or wheelchairs)
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (bathing assistance and incontinence care)
- Help clients with routine exercises
- Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
- Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, doctor appointments)
- Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
- Be a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Requirements
- Passion to serve others—a true caregiver
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
- Respectful and compassionate
- Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care
- Experience with transferring seniors using a Hoyer lift or gait belt
- Strong ethics
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia
- 2 years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or with an agency, or a CNA certification
