Home Health Aide - HHA

About the role

Visiting Angels' office in Lufkin is seeking compassionate Home Health Aides (HHAs) to provide care for seniors and those in need in the Deep East Texas area, including San Augustine, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Norwood, Chireno, and Rosevine. This role is ideal for individuals committed to making a meaningful difference in their community through companionship and support. Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (e.g., transferring assistance using hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, or wheelchairs)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene, including bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients when possible
• Perform grocery shopping, accompany clients to appointments (e.g., salon, doctor visits), or run errands
• Perform light housekeeping duties clients can’t complete on their own
• Provide pleasant and supportive companionship
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Requirements

• Passion to serve others—a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate demeanor
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia care
• 2 years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or agency, or a CNA certification
