Visiting Angels’ office in Birmingham is seeking compassionate Home Health Aides (HHAs) to provide care in the Northern Birmingham area, including Homewood, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Chelsea, Alabaster, Pelham, Trussville, Center Point, Irondale, Moody, Leeds, and surrounding communities. This role is ideal for individuals committed to delivering compassionate care to seniors and those in need, offering both meaningful work and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
A Home Health Aide with Visiting Angels Birmingham supports clients with a variety of responsibilities, from light housekeeping and meal preparation to mobility assistance and transportation. The role also provides opportunities for advanced training in specialized areas such as dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Help clients take prescribed medication
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (e.g., doctor’s appointments, walks)
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
- Help clients with routine exercises
- Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients (when able)
- Perform grocery shopping or accompany clients when they shop
- Perform light housekeeping duties clients can’t complete on their own
- Act as a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Requirements
- Passion to serve others—a true caregiver
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor
- Good time management skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- High school diploma or equivalent
