About the role
The Home Health Aide is a paraprofessional member of the Elders In-Home Services support team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/LPN and Manager. This position performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Baths
- Grooming
- Changing bed linens
- Assisting with dressing and undressing
- Assisting with toileting activities
- Skin care to prevent breakdown
- Keeping client’s living area clean and orderly
- Planning and preparing nutritious meals
- Taking and recording clients pulse, temperature, and respiration
- Ambulating and exercising clients
- Performing range of motion or other simple procedures
- Administering medication
- Accompanying clients to doctors’ office and hospital
- Light house cleaning and doing laundry
- Assisting with applicable errands
- Maintaining safety needs of clients
- Reporting on client’s condition
- Providing instruction, emotional support, and companionship
- Maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Attending required training, meetings, and conferences
- Maintaining paraprofessional development through continued education and on-the-job training
- Maintaining required certifications
Requirements
- Culturally relevant experience in a care giving role
- Experience working with Elders, within a Tribal community preferred
- Current and valid Washington State Driver’s License and own transportation with valid insurance coverage
- Flexibility to work varying hours/shifts
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and meet all health and immunization requirements
- Able to obtain required certifications within timelines indicated upon hire
- Food Handler’s permit within 30 days of hire
- First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Oxygen certifications within 3 months of hire
- Valid Home Health Aide certification or Certified Nursing Assistant certificate
