About the role
Provide direct patient care, treatment, and follow-up based on physician orders in a home-care setting.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new patients using motor, sensory-perceptual-cognitive, and performance assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans with measurable goals; document progress accurately and timely.
- Coordinate with Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), supervise their patient care, and ensure quality service.
- Communicate with patients, families, healthcare teams, and third parties regarding treatment plans, reimbursement policies, and referrals.
- Conduct in-service and professional education, supervise peers, support personnel, and students.
- Assist with research, employee orientation, and ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of the National Certification Exam and current state licensure.
- Preferably, at least one year of therapeutic experience outside home health.
- Knowledge of physical therapy theories and concepts with the ability to evaluate and treat patients.
- CPR certification.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Minimum of twelve hours of continuing education annually.
- Ability to travel and adapt to working conditions as assigned.
- Background checks and adherence to drug-free workplace policies.
