About the role

Senior Community Care of North Carolina PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

Responsibilities

• Provides and assists participants with activities of daily living and restorative/supportive care necessary to ensure the physical and health safety of the home environment.
• Makes sure to monitor and report the health status and provide a safe environment for the PACE participants of Senior Community Care of North Carolina.
• Works shifts in the SCCNC Day Center and provides care and services to participants and assists with the provision of a safe and effective day program.

• Unencumbered Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of NC
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation
• Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact
• A minimum of one year’s experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.

Qualifications

• Consults each day with the PCS Coordinator (or designee) to be updated on changes in participant status, changes in plan of care, and to confirm scheduled visits.
• Personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care and bathing.
• Assists participants in and out of bed assisting with ambulation.
• Assists with prescribed exercise which participants and aide have been taught by appropriate personnel.
• Prepares meals, including therapeutic diets, assists participants with meals.
• Assist participants to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans, or urinals.

Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with participants and their families.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Monday-Friday (7a-9p only 8 hours required) 1 weekend a month
