About the role

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, inspection, and operation of equipment and machinery used in processing meat products. You will follow standard operating procedures, complete production-related paperwork, and ensure product specifications are met.

As a Harvest Skilled Knife team member, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting coworkers. Your reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic will help maintain safety, quality, and teamwork standards while contributing to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products for consumers.
• Use straight knives, skinning tools, shaving tools, hand saws, powered whizard knives, and other cutting instruments.
• Perform physically demanding tasks requiring good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Work scheduled shifts and overtime as required by production demands.

Requirements

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and willing and able to:

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Work with knives (if trained).
• Work in cold (20–40°F) and/or warm (over 100°F) environments.
• Work in wet, humid conditions.
• Wear a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
• Work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• Work around strong smells/odors.
• Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms.
• Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
• Walk long distances.
• Perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs and single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs (mechanical assistance may be provided).

Pay

Hourly competitive starting pay: $20.60/hour.
