As a Company Driver for UNIS’ 1st Shift, your primary mission is to ensure the safe and timely transportation of freight within UNIS’s LTL (less-than-truckload) and FTL (full-truckload) divisions. You will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s logistics network by connecting terminals in our nationwide system with consistent efficiency, safety, and high-quality service. This position operates at the intersection of operational dependability and customer satisfaction, directly impacting UNIS’s ability to deliver exceptional logistics solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport non-hazardous freight between UNIS terminals and customer locations, adhering to assigned schedules and routes for the 1st Shift.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and maintain optimal operational safety and efficiency.
- Monitor and document driving hours and vehicle conditions in strict adherence to federal and company policies, ensuring regulatory compliance at all times.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the dispatch team and other personnel to provide updates on delivery status, proactively address delays, and maintain alignment with operational goals.
- Uphold UNIS’s standards for service, safety, and professionalism, fostering positive relationships with customers and furthering the company’s reputation as a premier logistics provider.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Possess a valid Class A CDL with a minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a Class A CDL Driver.
- A clean and acceptable DOT/Safety driving record with no major infractions or DUIs.
- Meet or exceed the medical standards as mandated by the US Department of Transportation and hold a valid DOT Medical card.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, vehicle inspection, and maintenance requirements.
- Successfully pass a drug and alcohol test, as well as a comprehensive background check, and provide employment references.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity and experience operating both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- Prior experience in LTL and FTL freight operations, demonstrating proficiency with terminal-to-terminal logistics.
- A proven track record of safety and efficiency in handling freight transport, contributing to company and customer success.
