Histotechnologist
Job Summary
The Histotechnologist plays a crucial role in the Laboratory, providing quality service, safe, accurate, and timely testing for neonates through geriatrics. They integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency, continuously improving clinical testing, confidence, and knowledge through formal and informal education.
Qualifications
- Shift: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm M- F
- AS or BS degree in related sciences preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience demonstrating knowledge and expertise
- ASCP preferred; eligible for registry; continued employment based on licensure
- Working knowledge of all Histology Procedures
- Familiarity with all equipment in the Histology Laboratory
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Good communication skills
- Ability to embed 75 blocks an hour
- Ability to cut 50 slides an hour
- Ability to perform H&E stain with consistent results
- Ability to perform all special stains and IHC procedures without unnecessary repeats
- Ability to cut and stain frozen section in 5 minutes
- Ability to perform all cytology slide preparation work
- Ability to order pathology specimens accurately and efficiently
- Ability to provide quick, accurate customer service
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately
- Able to adjust to changing workload
