The posted compensation range of $29.44 - $43.79 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program, or
- Bachelor's Degree and one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last 5 years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining, and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program
- Preferred: Histotechnologist (HTL)
Job Duties
- Help Pathologists perform both routine and complex histologic techniques on tissue samples so they can diagnose disease.
- Perform routine and complex histologic techniques.
- Be proficient in all areas of routine histologic prep (including paraffin embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining).
- Be proficient in surgical pathology/gross room activities (including accessioning, specimen handling and processing, and frozen section technique).
- Be proficient in complex techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence.
- Be knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology.
- Act as a technical resource for the department.
