Histotechnologist
Job Summary
Under direct supervision, the Histotechnologist performs both routine and complex histologic procedures in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tissue specimens through all phases of the histology process
- Perform staining procedures including routine, special, and immunohistochemical stains
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Perform frozen sections and troubleshoot technical issues
- Conduct quality control and identify discrepancies that may affect diagnostic outcomes
- Record and document test results and instrument maintenance
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biology, or a related scientific field
- HTL(ASCP) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC), or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a Histology laboratory
Additional Information
- Laboratory operates 24/7; positions available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
- Weekend work and on-call availability are required, especially for night shifts
