History Teacher
Job Summary
The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation seeks an educator to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in history, civics, economics, and/or geography at St. Vincent High School in Perryville, MO. The ideal candidate will foster students' intellectual, moral, and spiritual development in alignment with Catholic values and teachings.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons using a variety of instructional strategies
- Develop and implement unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments based on curriculum goals
- Evaluate student progress using multiple assessment methods and provide timely feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests
- Maintain a structured, safe, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning
- Integrate technology and diverse instructional materials to enhance student engagement
- Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of content
- Communicate clearly and consistently with students, parents, and school staff
- Collaborate with colleagues, participate in meetings, and contribute to school initiatives
- Support and model Catholic values, including participation in faith-based activities and school community life
- Maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and follow school and diocesan policies
- Participate in professional development and continuously improve instructional practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of secondary social studies content (history, civics, economics, geography)
- Strong instructional planning, classroom management, and assessment skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues
- Proficiency with educational technology and instructional tools
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
- Professionalism, organization, and reliability in fulfilling job duties
- Willingness to participate in school activities, committees, and faith formation
