About the role

New Haven Public Schools seeks a Teacher: History/Social Studies (Grade 8).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Grade 8 History/Social Studies curriculum.
  • Instruct students in a diverse range of topics including but not limited to U.S. history, world history, civics, geography, economics, and sociology.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards and objectives.
  • Evaluate student progress through various assessments and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and share best practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with educational trends and innovations.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in History/Social Studies or related field.
  • CT State Certification in History/Social Studies 4-12.
  • Experience teaching grades 8-12 preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff.

Pay

Salary contingent on degree and experience for the 25-26 School Year: $51,421 - $104,297, and for the 26-27 School Year: $53,220 - $108,047.

Schedule

Full-time position with a typical school year schedule.
