Histology Technician - Pathology - Per Diem 8 Hour Day Shift (Union)

About the role

Responsible for processing all tissues and fluids submitted to the Pathology service, preparing and staining tissue slides, and ensuring they are available in a timely manner for Pathologist review and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Process tissues and fluids for Pathology service
• Prepare and stain tissue slides
• Ensure timely availability of slides for Pathologist review
• Perform specialized stains
• Cutting and embedding tissues
• Quality control and QC evaluation
• Inventory control
• Preventative maintenance
• Quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

• One year of experience in an Acute Care Facility setting
• Three years of clinical training in an approved Histology Training Program
• Computer experience

Qualifications

• AA or AS degree in a related field preferred, but not required
• Valid Histology ASCP Certification preferred, but not required

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $41.69.
