Histology Technician
About the role
The Histologist at Community Medical Center performs a variety of routine laboratory duties in the preparation and processing of histopathological specimens to assist in diagnosis and treatment of disease. This position includes staining and processing of cytology specimens, record keeping including slides, blocks and reports, meeting turn-around-time standards, maintaining an orderly filing system for block and slides, block and slide prep completed accurately, ordering Histo/Cyto supplies, correct entry of information into Windowpath computer system, statistical and QA reports complete and timely, and maintenance performed adequately on equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine laboratory duties in the preparation and processing of histopathological specimens
- Stains and processes cytology specimens
- Records information including slides, blocks, and reports
- Maintains accurate block and slide prep
- Orders necessary supplies
- Enters information correctly into the Windowpath computer system
- Completes statistical and QA reports on time
- Maintains adequate equipment maintenance
Requirements
- Completion of a certified Histology Tech program
- Completion of appropriate training/internship
- Licensure: CLA or equivalent training in histology
