Histology Tech, PRN, Days

Responsibilities

• Cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review.
• Prioritizing testing procedures and completing them accurately and promptly.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all tests performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.
• No experience required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or In lieu of degree, one (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required.
• Three (3) years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
• Upon Hire Required or A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required.
