Histology Lab Lead - 2nd Shift
About the role
You coordinate daily lab activities and provide training, coaching, and guidance to the team. You act as an informational resource for your colleagues, helping ensure that samples are processed and analyzed efficiently. You will be a lead and a resource to other lab team members, while also working as an individual contributor doing day-to-day laboratory bench work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the work of Histology Lab Technicians and / or Histology Lab Assistants/Support Staff (though they will not be your direct reports).
- Coach and lead the work of others, and help the team reach business goals.
- Cook up the team’s workflow.
- Problem-solve, from trouble-shooting histology lab equipment to resolving situational workflow and challenges with turnaround times.
- Prepare veterinary tissue samples for diagnosis in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
- Perform dissection, grossing, embedding, microtomy, special staining, and complex tissue diagnostics on veterinary samples.
- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Requirements
- Associates, Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- You should be fully cross trained in a histology lab. This includes: microtomy, dissection, and special stains.
- Previous experience with complex tissue dissection is a plus.
- Attention to detail, organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- ASCP certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Team-orientation.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab, i.e. standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).

Schedule: You will be working 40 hours / week, with the following schedule: 4:00 pm - 12:30 am, Tuesday - Saturday.
The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
Pay
$35.00 per hour, based on experience and ASCP certification.
