Histologist

About the role

As a Histologist at BayCare, you will prepare and process tissue specimens from fixation to final slide preparation, ensuring accuracy and quality in support of patient diagnosis. You will also help maintain lab compliance and equipment while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Process tissue from fixation to final slide, including special stains and techniques
• Maintain required files, records, and documentation for compliance
• Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
• Stock and manage laboratory supplies
• Use medical terminology and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Certification & Licensure: Required - Histology Technician or Histology Technologist, Florida License Preferred - ASCP certification
• Educational Background: Required - High School diploma or equivalent, Preferred - Technical degree in Histotechnology or Associate’s in a related field
• Experience: Preferred - 1 year of laboratory experience
