HIRING NJ TRANSIT POLICE OFFICERS

Application period opens September 7 at 9:00 AM; only the first 2,000 applicants will be considered. A non-refundable $35 application fee (payable by debit/credit card) is required.

Documents Required

• Updated resume
• Updated unofficial or official college transcript or copy of degree (must include applicant and school name)
• DD214 (long version with discharge information), if applicable

Minimum Requirements

• Must not have intentionally misrepresented, falsified, or concealed material information during the application process
• Must be at least 21 years of age by December 19, 2026, and not have reached their 35th birthday at the time of appointment to the Police Academy Training Program (PTC), unless covered by New Jersey Statute N.J.S.A. 43:16A-3
• Must be a U.S. citizen on the date of application submission and never have renounced U.S. citizenship
• Must have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license and a driving record in good standing on the date of application submission
• By January 1, 2027, must have one of the following:
  • A Bachelor’s degree; OR
  • Sixty (60) college credits AND one (1) year of full-time or part-time experience as a first responder; OR
  • Four (4) full years of continuous active-duty military service

Failure to meet or provide proof of these requirements will result in disqualification from the selection process.
