About the Role

This position is located at HonorHealth Sonoran Crossing Medical Center near Anthem, AZ. The Health Information Management (HIM) Tech II is responsible for completing and submitting Arizona State-required documentation, maintaining the master patient index, and coordinating suspension protocols with Medical Staff Services.

Responsibilities

• Complete and submit Arizona State-required information for birth certificates, fetal death certificates, paternity affidavits, and related documentation.
• Assist patients with birth registration and paternity processes by collecting and verifying required information.
• Enter birth data into the electronic State of Arizona Birth Reporting System.
• Prioritize work and reconcile newborn patients with birth registration submissions to ensure 100% compliance for HonorHealth births and fetal deaths.
• Resolve issues related to birth certificates and paternity affidavits with patients and the State of Arizona.
• Research patient admission histories and collaborate with Patient Registration and other departments to determine correct medical record merges.
• Monitor and perform maintenance on the organization’s master patient index (MPI), including reviewing duplicate patient reports to identify records needing merges.
• Distribute chart deficiency and suspension information to physicians, providers, and other entities, including reminders, pending suspension notices, and fine notifications.
• Maintain the physician suspension process, including monitoring, tracking, and reporting deficiencies in the electronic medical record system.
• Actively participate in department activities, safety initiatives, and risk mitigation measures.
• Complete all position and department safety-related competencies and requirements on time.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Associate's Degree (preferred).
• 2 years of experience in master patient index maintenance, records analysis, or medical records processing (required).
• 3 years of experience in the above areas (preferred).
• Basic understanding and use of computers, telephones, fax, copy machines, and data entry into computer programs.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly with physicians.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to birth registration and patient health information confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Registered Arizona State Birth Registrar (preferred).
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification (preferred).

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (on-site).
