About the role
The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality provision of services at Chapters Health. This position is dedicated to maintaining accurate and complete medical records, supporting clinical staff, and adhering to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Auxiliary in assembling and tracking admissions paperwork to establish medical records for each patient.
- Auditing admission documents for timely and completeness, including completion of necessary forms and certifications.
- Tracking and timely processing of physician signatures on orders, entering signature dates into the electronic medical record system, and monitoring order integrity.
- Completing the timely alphabetizing, collating, and scanning of all submitted paperwork into the medical records.
- Supervising volunteer work in the HIM office and assisting HIM Supervisor with paperwork for meetings and reports.
- Participating in quality improvement, assurance, and compliance activities for audits, surveys, and projects.
- Assisting with medical record audits to ensure accuracy and timeliness for billing purposes.
- Aiding clinical staff with medical record reviews and requests, and sending copies of medical records for patients in different settings.
- Handling financial paperwork as required by Patient Accounts.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of general office experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in medical records preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- College courses or degree preferred.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $17.81 - $26.50 per hour. Employees are subject to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as ongoing compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Background checks are conducted as part of the hiring process.
