About the Role

Travels to nursing units and clinical areas to retrieve clinical documents of in-house and discharged patients for prepping, scanning, indexing, and validation of documents into the electronic health records (EHR) for timely electronic access by providers for management of patient care. Responds to requests for release of medical records and releases timely protected health information according to Federal Law, our client’s Policy and Procedures, and HIPAA guidelines. Interviews patients and obtains timely and accurate information following Florida Department of Health and the Office of Vital Statistics for completion of Certificate of Live Birth. Works as a team to meet departmental goals producing timely and 98% work accuracy. Assists with departmental coverage at the different HIM locations.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve clinical documents from nursing units and clinical areas for in-house and discharged patients.
• Prep, scan, index, and validate documents into the electronic health records (EHR).
• Respond to requests for release of medical records in compliance with Federal Law, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
• Interview patients to obtain accurate information for completion of Certificate of Live Birth.
• Collaborate with the team to meet departmental goals, ensuring timely and 98% work accuracy.
• Assist with departmental coverage across different Health Information Management (HIM) locations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, Certificate, GED, Training, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary customer service.
• Knowledge of computer and clinical chart formats.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication skills and comprehension of oral and written instructions.
• Attention to fine details and strong eye-hand coordination.

A+ certification is preferred.

Pay

Estimated pay range for this position is $16.28 - $20.67 per hour, depending on experience.
