About the role

Maintains the confidentiality, security and integrity of medical records according to Rochester Regional Health policies along with State and Federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, providers, and external partners
  • Process and track Release of Information (ROI) requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance
  • Handle incoming calls, mail, faxes, and electronic in-basket messages
  • Scan, index, quality check, and maintain electronic medical records
  • Manage paper records, including retrieval, storage, retention, and destruction
  • Avoids delays in the processing of medical records
  • Assists in a customer service manner by interacting with patients, families/personal representatives and RRH Staff
  • Supports the daily operations of the practice by ensuring that patient needs are being met
  • Performs a variety of duties to include, but not limited to data entry, scanning, faxing, copying, mailing, phone calls, chart boxing, provided direction and training to team members as instructed by leadership
  • Assists in a customer service manner by interacting with patients, families/personal representatives and RRH Staff
  • Supports additional Health Information Management (HIM) functions as needed

Requirements

  • High school Diploma
  • 1+ years of experience in Health Information Management, Customer Service relates industry or other Healthcare setting
  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Business, IT, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other EMR systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and state/federal health information regulations
  • Strong computer, customer service, and communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines under pressure
