About the Role

Ensure the smooth flow of materials both raw and finished on the production floor. Operate forklift in a safe and careful manner. Observe all GNS safety rules, regulations, and established procedures, including those for forklift operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift (Hilo) to load, unload, and move materials within the production floor.
  • Operate overhead and/or mobile cranes to safely lift, position, and transport coils.
  • Prepare customer orders for shipment according to company specifications.
  • Load trucks and trailers while ensuring proper weight distribution and load security.
  • Perform daily inspections of forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Complete shipping and receiving documentation accurately.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage or discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety regulations, company policies, and operating procedures.
  • Assist with inventory counts and general warehouse duties as required.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate shipments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid forklift (Hilo) certification.
  • Crane operator certification or demonstrated crane operating experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in shipping, warehousing, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to safely handle heavy materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for shipping documentation and inventory systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and work in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of load rigging and safe lifting practices.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.

Schedule

2nd Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with overtime and weekends based on company needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role involves regular physical activity including standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision. The job involves repetitive tasks and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. Requires working in a non-air-conditioned, variable-temperature factory setting with potential exposure to extreme heat and cold. Noise levels are mostly loud. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physicals, and background checks.
