Highway Technician 1 - Seasonal Snow and Ice - Multiple Positions - Lake County - Painesville

About the role

Highway Technician 1 position for the Winter Seasonal 2026-2027 in Lake County. Requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice duties on roadways for 8-12 hours per shift
• Conduct fleet readiness inspections (pre/post) and washing of snow and ice equipment
• Grease equipment used for snow and ice operations
• Change blades on equipment
• General facilities maintenance
• Pothole patching and roadway remediation crew duties
• Assist with sign installation along 2, 4, and multi-lane routes
• Operate articulated loaders to load single and tandem axle dump trucks for snow and ice operations
• Assist with maintenance of traffic for roadway emergencies
• Highway beautification and litter removal as needed

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions
• Formal education in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions)
• Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary
• 3 months of training or 3 months of experience in operation of basic equipment

Pay

$22.29 per hour
