Highway Maintenance Worker II - Medium Equipment Operator (61032034)

Job Responsibilities

• Operates tandem dump truck for hauling materials and equipment.
• Uses medium-sized equipment like skid steer loader, belt loader, nurse truck, and large roller for various maintenance operations.
• Operates heavy equipment such as tractor with ditcher, mower max, and backhoe for tasks like routine ditching, limbing, and shoulder repair.
• Aids in setting up and maintaining work zones using traffic control devices according to SCDOT guidelines.
• Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, including extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
• Operates anti-icing and snow removal equipment during winter weather operations.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Necessary Special Requirements

• Physical demands involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• May require walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working near motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
• May need to work outside normal scheduled work week, especially during inclement weather.
