Highway Maintenance Worker II: Heavy Equipment Operator (61036255) **RE-ADVERTISEMENT**

Job Responsibilities

Serves as a heavy equipment operator on the ROW Clearing Crew. Operates heavy duty motorized equipment such as motor grader, front end loader, tractor with ditcher, and slope mower in the maintenance of highways. Performs duties using manual labor, in such maintenance tasks as clearing of right-of-way cleaning drainage/ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, paving driveways, laying side line/cross line pipe, grading and setting forms, laying bricks/blocks, repairing and building, pouring/finishing concrete/cement for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveway, catch basins, etc.

Performs traffic controls operations for work zones, to include flagging traffic for the safety of the crew and the public, during various phases of roadway maintenance. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations and being on call for after hour emergencies.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement

• The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
