Job Responsibilities
- Operates heavy equipment such as a tractor with a ditcher to regrade ditches on state right of ways.
- Operates small equipment such as a trailer mounted pipe washer.
- Operates heavy equipment such as large motor graders in ditching, shoulder operations.
- Operates heavy equipment such as a front-end loader and backhoe to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and cross line pipes.
- Operates medium equipment such as a tandem dump truck in hauling maintenance and construction materials such as concrete pipes, asphalt, dirt, etc.
- Operates truck mounted plows and sand spreaders in snow and ice removal as necessary.
- Affords assistance with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
- Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Demands
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
- Exposed to inclement weather and roadway traffic.
- Must be available for overtime on nights, weekends and holidays.
- Physical skills require walking, bending, riding, sitting, and lifting up to 94 lbs.
