Job Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains a motorized asphalt Road Patcher, Truck Mounted daily to pick up asphalt from plant.
- Performs various maintenance duties within a county or section of county such as; patching roadway surfaces, full depth patching, washouts, cuts, bridge ends with hot and cold asphalt, limestone and other base materials throughout the County.
- Operates and maintains electric and gas powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance such as; repairing potholes and base surface failures on roadway using hand tools (shovel, pick, rake, and asphalt lute to level asphalt as needed).
- Chainsaw, weed eater, pole pruner, bush axes, etc.
- Operates and maintains motorized equipment (CDL) used in various phases of roadway maintenance (backhoe, steel wheel & pneumatic roller, asphalt kettle, tandem dump truck) for full depth base repairs, throughout the county.
- Sets up traffic control according to MUTCD Standards to warn motorists of roadwork ahead. May serves as a flagger when required.
- Performs other job related duties such as routine sign straightening, litter and debris pick up, and removal of dead animals.
- Performs other related job duties, daily preventative maintenance inspections on all assigned vehicles, on-call for after hours emergencies.
- Affords assistance in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12 hour shifts.
- Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as required.
Necessary Special Requirements
- A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
- Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Requirements
- The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
