Highway Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking full-time Highway Maintenance Technicians to perform maintenance operations in the Northern Virginia and DC area. This role involves a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team performing a variety of highway maintenance tasks
• Be flexible and available to work on-call and nights when required
• Lighting repair
• Sign repair
• Guardrail repair
• Bridge work and repair
• Heavy equipment operations
• Road patrol
• Incident response

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Maintain company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing)
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Ability to carry out simple arithmetic functions
• Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
• Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
• Ability to use a smartphone and applications
• Ability to adjust to a changing work schedule
• Ability to work safely under varying environmental and weather conditions
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing manual labor
• Ability to operate hand/power tools
• Clean driving record
• Must pass criminal background check and fingerprinting (provided by company)
• Roadway maintenance or construction experience
• MOT Certifications

Pay

$17–$21/hr, depending on experience, certifications, and licenses.

Schedule

Full-time, day shift. Must be flexible and available to work on-call and nights when required.
