About the role

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Supervisor I in Patrick Draw, Wyoming. This position oversees maintenance operations, ensuring the safety and quality of the state’s transportation system.

Responsibilities

• Supervise highway maintenance operations and assign daily activities.
• Schedule crew members for rotating shifts and assign labor and equipment.
• Plan for coverage and equipment in anticipated weather events.
• Identify training needs and ensure training completion.
• Conduct performance appraisals and communicate with human resources regarding disciplinary actions.
• Order and maintain materials and inventory.
• Record work orders, employee time cards, and material usage in agency systems.
• Monitor project budgets and progress, inspect projects, and assess road sections for needed repair/maintenance.
• Ensure crews work safely and follow established safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain positive relationships with crew members, local landowners, and the public.
• Communicate ongoing maintenance projects and hazardous situations to the public.
• Collaborate with other supervisors and district staff to ensure efficient and safe work across the district and state.

Requirements

• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal highway safety standards and traffic control procedures.
• Experience with heavy equipment operation and basic mechanical repair.
• Knowledge of routine and specialized highway maintenance operations.
• Understanding of agency policies, quality commitments, and safe work practices.
• Computer skills, including use of databases and systems.
• Knowledge of regulations and agencies related to highway maintenance operations.
• Ability to manage resources and time effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Management or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of progressive work experience in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
