Highway Engineer

Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects, and independently on smaller projects.
- Prepare or oversee the following roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway sections, intersection layouts and sight distance determinations, interchange layouts, right-of-way plans.
- Aid in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects including preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Manage day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the design team and client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S.C.E. or related field.
- 5 years of transportation engineering design experience required.
- Experience working on PennDOT / PTC projects.
- Experience working on Design-Build projects a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work concurrently with multiple design teams, and leadership and management skills.
- Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
- Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
- MS Office knowledge.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans.
