Highway Engineer

About the role

EXP is currently seeking a talented Highway Engineer (PE) for our Tampa, FL Office. The candidate will find opportunities on a wide range of projects involving multi-modal roadway planning, highway design, civil design, design review and construction oversight.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead engineering design review tasks for highway projects
• Develop civil design of multi-modal transportation projects per AASHTO, MUTCD and FDOT applicable design standards
• Develop plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
• Prepare final bid packages, design-build packages, and bridging documents

Required software proficiency

• OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
• Bentley ProjectWise CONNECT
• MicroStation
• Civil 3D
• Auto Turn
• Guide Sign

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Engineering, preferably in civil or transportation curriculum
• 5+ years related experience
• Licensed PE in the State of Florida
• Licensed PE in other Southeastern States a plus
• FDOT experience preferred
• In-depth knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoads software
• Strong technical design background in highway design and transportation engineering
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team
• Project management experience desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Active industry participation in professional societies at local and State level a plus
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
