About the role
CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team in Keene, NH. This role involves independently completing engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for various highway projects, including roadway modeling, roundabouts, and signal design.
Responsibilities
- Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for various highway projects including roadway modeling, roundabouts, and signal design
- Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
- Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices for safety and infrastructure resilience
- Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical transportation projects
- Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
- NHDOT experience preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
Qualifications
- Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
- Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

Most employees have the option of a hybrid schedule with a work week that includes both office and work from home days.
