About the role
The Springfield Public Schools seeks a qualified candidate to join our team as a Vocational Technical Education Framework Instructor. This position is responsible for teaching vocational technical education courses, ensuring students meet district curriculum goals, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a curriculum that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes learning and aligns with students' maturity and interests.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate these to students.
- Employ various instructional techniques and media, considering physical constraints and student capabilities.
- Instruct in accordance with the district's philosophy of education and performance expectations.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Maintain accurate records and diagnose learning challenges, seeking specialized assistance when needed.
- Ensure safety and health in the classroom and follow the district's code of conduct.
- Supervise paraprofessionals and provide written evaluations as necessary.
- Maintain a continuous professional development plan that meets district requirements and personal goals.
- Participate in the teacher evaluation process and contribute to mutual agreements.
- Attend building and district meetings to facilitate communication and decision-making.
- Engage in school-sponsored activities and contribute to district and building decisions.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and development.
Requirements
- Possession of a current Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license.
- Possession of a current Massachusetts Master Electrical license.
