About the role

American Traveler is hiring a part-time Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist) for a high school placement in Thornton, CO on a school-year contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
• Collaborate with other educators, parents, and administrators to support student learning
• Adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
• Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive classroom environments

Requirements

• Current Colorado teaching license
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• Experience working with students with special educational needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Experience with assistive technology and accommodations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation).
