Job Summary

The Bilingual teacher under general direction of the Principals, Assistant Principals and Program Director, helps emergent bilingual students learn subject matter and skills contributing to their development as mature, able and responsible individuals. The Dual Language Social Studies teacher understands bilingualism and biliteracy as foundational elements for a just and multicultural society. The teacher values diversity and collaborates with all stakeholders to support student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Social Studies to emergent bilingual students aligned with grade-level standards.
  • Implement the ESL/Dual Language program requirements to deliver a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, instructional coaches, and other stakeholders to ensure student success.
  • Cultivate and support a just and multicultural learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Illinois teaching certificate with endorsement in Social Studies and ESL/Dual Language.
  • Experience working with emergent bilingual students preferred.
  • Strong understanding of bilingualism and biliteracy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
