About the role

To provide an instructional program that will develop student knowledge and understanding of science/biology skills and concepts in accordance with district-wide curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements an instructional program consistent with the goals of the district.
• Foster and facilitate a strong and positive learning environment.
• Selects and requisitions books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids and maintains required inventory records.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
• Maintains an auditable record of pupil attendance and makes daily reports of pupils absent each period.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school or on a district level.
• Implement individual education program for special needs students.
• Supervises classroom and students (aides, volunteers and parent helpers where appropriate).

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree.
• Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate correlation to subject.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to adjust focus.
• Directly responsible for safety, well-being or work output of other people.

Salary

As per negotiated contract
